4×4#1
In my first “real” blog entry I want to introduce 4 of my most beloved bands/musicians and give you 4 examples of why I personally find them as brilliant as I do. Have a listen above to:
Kaizers Orchestra Is a Norwegian Band consisting of 6 Band members. They developed their heavy, mechanically sound as a result of the musical style of their early song “Bastard” – the band’s only mentionable success when they still called themselves Gnom. The present band name “Kaizers Orchestra” goes back to this song as well, as a certain Mr. Kaizer is mentioned in it. Have a listen to the song (among others) above!
Squirrel Nut Zippers Is an American Band whose style can loosely be described as swing revival with a very creative touch. Their major period of fame (though limited to the USA) was between the years 1995 till 2000 during which they produced 6 albums, including a Christmas Album (Christmas Caravan). The band has not only revived swing with their style but has also complimented it with the great variety of instruments and humrous lyrics used for their songs.
Ghinzu Is a Belgian rock/pop band who sets an array of various synthesizer sounds next to the heavy screaming of electrical guitars or the elegant sound of piano melodies. This mixture concludes in a very emotional but at the same time driving kind of music. Ghinzu had their biggest success with their album Blow (2004) from which the songs chosen above stem.
The Cat Empire Is a constantly changing arrangement of Australian musicians around lead singer Felix Riebl. Their musical style includes Ska, Reggae and Alternative Rock as well as some jazzy influences or some hints to Latin Music. Their humorous lyrics, the happy melodies, the huge number of different instruments used as well as the Aussie English accent of Felix Riebl are making Cat Empire’s music very positiv and cheery. The perfect music for a relaxed evening at the beach with some good friends!
